Phase III - Heritage Museum and Bald Eagle Observatory

The JKCHC building was designed by The Portico Group (an architectural firm based in Seattle, Washington) with a great deal of input from the residents of Klukwan.  The design of the building reflects the traditional building style of the Chilkats as much as practicable. The main JKCHC building will sit opposite the existing Hospitality House with a cement plaza that is designed to look like the river flats at the confluence of the Chilkat and Tsirku Rivers.  The plaza will be furnished with outdoor benches that look like the traditional Chilkat dug-out canoes and will be landscaped with indigenous trees and plants to further reflect the culture and natural environment of the Jilkaat Kwaan (Chilkat People).
